Questions About AHA Sponsorships

What does it mean to be a “member” of the American Hospital Association (AHA)?

The nearly 5,000 members of the American Hospital Association are dues-paying hospitals, healthcare systems and other providers of care. Members of the AHA are organizations, not individuals.

How is the AHA audience different from other healthcare audiences?

AHA reaches and engages hospital and health system leaders at multiple levels across every operational area. We have more than 420,000 individual hospital executives, decision-makers and decision-influencers in our database.

How can the AHA help me connect with hospital decision-makers?

The AHA offers a variety of channels and programs for organizations that seek to partner with hospitals and health systems. These include national conferences, smaller executive convenings, webinars and virtual panels, email lead generation programs, podcasts and more. The full range of opportunities is presented in the AHA Marketing Solutions Guide.

What job titles and seniority levels can I reach through AHA channels?

AHA’s audience database includes more than 420,000 contacts who represent the full range of hospital and health system operations. In addition to CEOs and C-suite executives, we reach hospital trustees, vice presidents, directors and managers across all operational areas from environmental services to physician leadership.

The AHA also works closely with affiliated organizations that offer specialized resources and services to professionals who work within the hospital setting:

  • The American Organization of Nurse Leaders (AONL) is the voice of more than 12,500 nurse leaders and advances their professional development through education, networking and advocacy conducted in partnership with the AHA.
  • The AHA’s Professional Membership Groups (PMGs) are societies organized around distinct professional groups which range in size from 1,000 to nearly 13,000 members. Each PMG provides specific education, publications, networking, leadership opportunities and recognition to targeted healthcare professionals.

Where can I see all available opportunities to work with the AHA?

Opportunities to partner with the AHA are outlined in the AHA Marketing Solutions Guide, with additional details available through a consultation with our team.

Do you have a Media Guide that outlines advertising options?

Because the AHA does not typically sell traditional advertising space on its website or digital channels, we don’t have a traditional "media guide." The best way to see all the opportunities for brand exposure, thought leadership and lead generation would be to review our AHA Marketing Solutions Guide and speak to a sales executive.

What are the AHA events that businesses can sponsor and attend?

AHA’s national conferences offer a variety of opportunities for sponsorship and attendance. Certain events, such as our AHA Annual Membership Meeting and AHA Rural Healthcare Leadership Conference, are closed, which means businesses can only attend as sponsors. Other meetings, such as the AHA Leadership Summit and the AHA Healthier Together Conference, offer vendor registration in addition to sponsorship opportunities.

Who attends AHA conferences? Which events attract CEOs and C-suite leaders?

The audience at AHA conferences varies by event. We offer conferences for leaders with focused interest in rural healthcare, in population and community health, in advocacy and policy and in innovation.

In addition, the AHA’s Professional Membership Groups hold annual conferences for their members who represent most areas of hospital operations, from environmental services to capacity management.

You can see the full range of AHA’s conferences on the AHA website under “Education & Events.”

How can I speak at AHA conferences?

Most conferences issue a “Call for Speakers” 6-9 months before the event. To inquire about a specific conference’s schedule, contact us.

Do you sell event attendee lists and/or AHA member lists?

No. While event attendee lists are provided to sponsors, the AHA never sells its lists to an outside party without a sponsorship agreement in place. Any solicitations you may receive from an organization offering you access to attendee lists are fraudulent.

I would like to be an exhibitor at AHA events. Do I also have to sponsor?

Exhibiting and sponsorship policies vary by event.

Can my company contribute content or research through the AHA?

Content provided by business partners may be shared with AHA members through a marketing partnership. All content must align with AHA positions and priorities and will be fully vetted prior to any marketing agreement. Reach out to marketing@aha.org to discuss.

Does AHA collect and sell data from its hospitals?

The AHA licenses data for use. The AHA has fielded a national survey of the nation’s hospitals for more than 75 years. Today, the AHA Annual Survey of Hospitals profiles a universe of over 6,200 hospitals and 400 health care systems throughout the United States and associated areas. Also available are supplementary data on patient satisfaction, readmissions, mortality, and quality. Data is available at the hospital and system level for research and advocacy. This data is a primary reference for government agencies (e.g., Centers for Disease Control and[CL6.1] Prevention, U.S. Census Bureau, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) and industry reports and policy papers (e.g., Health Affairs).

In 2008, the AHA began conducting a health care IT supplement survey which focuses on indicators that illustrate the depth and level of technology integration within hospitals. This data has been used extensively by the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) and is the basis for a number of published articles in Health Affairs and The New England Journal of Medicine on electronic health record (EHR) adoption in hospitals. As health care information technology progresses, AHA datasets offer a single destination with the most reliable selection of individual hospital and system data covering HIT, interoperability, EHR market share and satisfaction and telehealth trends.
